Virus Rodeo 250 Word Synopsis

In the early ninties, a small nucleus – primarily of Air Force Vietnam vets – becomes the core of a kind of cabal which came to be termed the Group of 34.  These now-retired adults still see themselves as can-do folks, and if not the greatest generation, still rightful inheritors thereof.  They identify with its ideals and willingness to sacrifice.  They sense that the “right stuff” is inherent within them:  they are exceptional and they are American.  Identity Politics has yet to become widespread. They are forward-looking and see an accumulation of national follies in danger of irretrievably ruining the environment before the insufficiently future-oriented US masses will be motivated to act decisively.   From a more jaundiced point of view these are Children of privilege, networking Frat Partiers grown up, double dipping and entirely comfortable with fully participating in the fruits of a perceived American Exceptionalism.

These self-assigned Environmentalist saviors of the world plan to take  over the US Democracy and usurp the US Constitution with a coup d'état and an “Ecological Pearl Harbor” called “Tropical Rain Forest Infection Syndrome (TRFIS)”.   The result will be a self-policed autocracy which uses DNA fingerprinting of behavior propensities to screen leaders of the initial cabal of 34 man-wife pairs, their subordinates, and key operatives to reduce odds of corruption and abusive behavior. Judge/jury/executioner power over the citizenry is assured through G34 members within NIH-sponsored Sandhill Research Foundation, located in Raleigh’s Research Triangle Park.   These G34 researchers have achieved “DNA Fingerprinting” for diseases and for “Behavior Propensities”.  The latter include: economic corruption, disloyalty, certifiably reasonable leader factors, and other positive or negative traits.

Before the 1990s are out, America finds itself off to an alternate future more hopeful than the swampish reality of 2021!
